1897 - The good story

1923 The girl on the moon
I prefer not to do much clean up work, I want the photographs to remain an honest representation of what they are today – scratches and all. However, occasionally I plan to make exceptions like this one, especially when a photo is closer to art and landscape than a document of more historical value (such as Lincoln, a civil war event, a portrait, etc.). I’d like to think this is a more accurate representation as how the photo would have appeared brand new. Lovely place.

1904 - Nature's cup of beauty filled to overflowing with the crystal waters of the Yosemite Valley, Cal.

1902 - Moonlight on the Hakone, Japan's most beautiful lake
This one is very cleaned up, but I thought the result was worth the extra work.

February 1874 - Christine Nilsson, Swedish soprano, half-length portrait, seated, facing left.

August 26, 1914 - The old curiosity shop of Dickens' story, Home of Little Nell London.

1904 - Railway in Central Park, New York City, U.S.A.

Apparently sarcasm isn't a new thing...
Stereo card (stereographic) animation showing woman with a bandage and ice pack, 1901. Caption reads: “An’ its me tooth! God bless you Doctor dear!”

As you’ve probably figured out by now, whenever I get the chance I sit down and dig through archives of old photographs. Auto polo you’ve seen, here’s a few more interesting and odd photographs:

1902 - caption says "Now ride the goat, and do it pretty." They get arrested for doing that around here.

Just plain disturbing

Probably 1860's - No wonder clowns freak people out
