1907 - Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens), three-quarter length portrait, standing by window, facing left.
So I’ve been thinking a lot about how these can become more realistic, again, it’s strange the things that just don’t occur to you. More animation within these files becomes a problem. Add too many frames, and it takes forever to load. Too few and you get major looping. But for some, I think it’s an improvement. Can’t get too far past that looping above, but I think it’s subtle enough to be an improvement. Love it, hate it, or just going to be quiet like usual… hmmmmm?

Beaufort, S.C. Gen. Isaac I. Stevens on same porch. Photograph of the Federal Navy, and seaborne expeditions against the Atlantic Coast of the Confederacy, specifically of Port Royal, S.C., 1861-1862.
This is the animation that crashed on me Sunday. He could be Brad Pitt’s grandfather. Below is a bigger view. View the original at the loc website here. I will have this print up for sale in the next few days at deviantart.com.

1906 - Around the May pole, E.W. Kelley (Berry, Kelley & Chadwick)
This image was somewhat damaged with faded areas, which is why it looks kind of flashy. I chose it mainly because it’s cute, and the variety of colors it would use for the time lapse. I also went to video with the time lapse, the gif just takes too much space and load time. View the lapse below.

1903 - In the daisy field (A dog sits between two girls in pinafores in a field of daisies.)
My second attempt at colorization. This was also what I came up with when searching for Easter images. There were a few cute ones, but they made for difficult animations. I guess this reminds me of being a young girl and dressing up with my sisters to get our pictures taken. Of course we would have included our dog!

1870s - Minnie Conway, head-and-shoulders portrait, wearing hat, facing left. Photographed by J. Gurney & Son, 5th Ave., cor. 16th St., New York.
This is my first attempt at coloring an old photo. I decided to color only her face to make it a stronger focal point. Here is the original:
