1913 - James Montgomery Flagg. This fellow was a famous artist, which makes this photo a bit less strange. He worked for Time Magazine, and for a period of time was the highest paid illustrator in the U.S. You know that famous poster with Uncle Sam leaning over and pointing, it says, "I want you for the U.S. Army"?
